The Advanced Open Water Course is designed so that you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Course. It helps you to increase your confidence and knowledge in the water while combining it with exploration, excitement and more experience. The Advanced Open Water Course will help you to build your SCUBA skills and become more comfortable in the water. It is also a great way to get more dives under your belt and meet fellow divers with similar diving experiences while continuing to learn under the supervision of a qualified PADI diving instructor. It introduces new ways to have fun scuba diving.
- You will do 5 Adventure dives spreads over two days. Each dive has a different focus and learning objective.
- To qualify as and Advanced Open Water Diver you must completer a Deep Dive to 30 metres (90 feet) as well as a Navigation Dive. PADI Adventure Dives can also credit towards the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Certifications
- A choice of 3 more Adventure dives such as Buoyancy Control, Search and Rescue, Underwater Photography.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
- PADI Open Water Diver Certification (or a qualifying certification from another dive organisation to the same level)
- Minimum age of 15yrs old (12yrs for the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
- Medically fit for the experience and to complete our Medical Form

HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED AND WHEN DO I START? The PADI Advanced Open Water Course is a two day course. It takes place on Monday and Tuesday of each week. Three dives on Monday and two dives on Tuesday, with room for an additional dive towards a Diver Specialty Course. Monday: Course introduction, Knowledge Reviews and dive briefing 7.30am – 4.30pm (On Boat) Tuesday: Knowledge Reviews and dive briefing 7.30am – 4.30pm (On Boat) WHERE DO WE GO? Our dives are conducted from a boat. The Knowledge Review section of the course including the dive briefings takes place on the dive boat. The Dive Sites that we use for our Advances Dives take place at the Great Barrier Marine Park. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? To book a place on the Advanced Open Water Course just contact us and let us know when you would like to start. Payment is on booking your place to secure your position on the course. Once payment is received you can come into the Parrotfish Dive Resort to collect you PADI Crew-pack or we can post it to you. There is some self study to complete prior to starting your course.
