Learn to Scuba Dive in Port Douglas.
Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Course with Parrotfish. Getting started could not be easier, and there is no better place to start diving then the Great Barrier Reef. With a pool session and a knowledge development class you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including correct use of dive equipment and diving techniques followed by and experience of a life time, completing your Open Water Dives while exploring the pristine reefs and diverse underwater sea life.

- Fitness: Anyone who is in good health and has a general level of fitness is able to become a diver. You must demonstrate basic water skills (i.e. Swim 200m - this can be done over various times and any stroke can be used and tread water for 10 minutes).
- Minimum Age: Children must be 8+ to take part in a PADI Bubblemaker Course where they can experience scuba diving in a pool in less then six feet of water. Between 10-14yrs young people can take part in the full PADI Open water certification Course and will become Junior Open Water Divers. This may be upgraded to a PADI Open Water Diver Certification upon reaching 15yrs.
- Identification: You also need to bring 2 passport-sized photos for your PADI certification card.
- Medical: Pass a dive medical to Australian Standard AS 4005-1.
Australian standards require that you pass a recreational diving medical, AS4005.1, before beginning your course. You will need to bring your completed medical with you on the first day of your course. A dive medical costs around $77 and can be taken at Port Village Medical Centre, situated Port Village, Macrossan Street, Port Douglas (Tel: 07 4099 5043), or contact your current Doctor to find out if they can conduct dive medicals.
